Dancing In the Rain

Today was an overall rainy day.  Ayden and I were sitting on the couch after breakfast, looking out the window, and he started talking about going outside to play.  My first instinct was to tell him that  it was a bummer that it was raining and that we had to stay inside.  Then I thought about it...  It wasn't really cold out so why was I telling him no?  When I couldn't think of a good reason (and when he went to our shoe mat next to the door, picked out his rain boots and said, "I can wear these?") I realized that playing outside in our PJs right then sounded like the perfect thing to do.

I was glad that David captured that moment of spontaneity before he put on his own rain boots and joined us.  It's hard to have moments like this when our lives get busy (who are we kidding, all of our lives are probably always incredibly busy in one way or another..) but man was that time splashing in the puddles with my little boy worth coming back in to a kitchen full of dirty dishes.  I will take that trade and those memories we made any day.
