Playing Hookey

David played hookey from work today!  He didn't sleep well last night so he was tired, the office was still a disaster zone and we had Ayden's doctor's appointment at 1:00; so he just decided to stay home, sleep in, and be productive.  We loved having him home with us all day!  Too bad it can't be like that all the time.  Maybe someday...

The office looked much  better after all of his hard work:

We are just down to the one, smaller desk and we have so much more room in there now!  The next time we go to workout together in there will be amazing because we'll have so much space.  Now we just need to sort through all of this:

As for the doctor's appointment, it went okay.. Ayden wasn't really a huge fan of the height and weight check...

24.5" and 14lbs, 3oz
Or the physical exam and obviously he hated the shots.  Now that I think about it, the only time he was happy when it was it was just the three of us in the room.

WARNING:  Proud parent bragging is about to ensue :)

His doctor was very pleased, even surprised with his development and said that he would probably continue to meet most of his milestones a little early.  He noted that he was already crying in response to something he wants changed and when strangers try to touch him.  He said that those behaviors don't typically show up until 8 or 9 months.  We, of course, were so proud to hear him talk about how well Ayden is doing as he seems to be a little ahead in all areas, but it also means that he'll be a baby who always keeps us on our toes.  Too smart for his own good, in other words.  We've always been aware that he's not an "easy" baby but his doctor just brought to our attention that he will probably be quick to make connections and make his feelings known.  These will be wonderful qualities for him to have as an adult but may make for a head strong, demanding child.  Only time will tell but David and I are a united front and are ready to take on whatever he decides to bring our way! He also said that we shouldn't have to worry about him really trying to get away with "stuff" until around the year mark so luckily we have a little more time to enjoy his being a baby before we have to start choosing battles.

We talked about his sleeping and he said that if he is eating when he wakes up, there's not much we can do about it.  If he's growing and needs to eat, he needs to eat.  As for vaccinations, we got a booster for the stacked shot he got at his 2 month checkup (DTAP/HIB/Polio).  We really hate stacked vaccines (1 shot for multiple diseases) but it is the only way this office offers these particular vaccines.  Ayden did not react well to this vaccine the first time he got it so we were prepared for a rough night.  He fell asleep on the way home and then he nursed while we napped together once we got here.  After dinner, I went to my turbo kick class while Ayden stayed home with David.  While I was gone, they went for a long walk during which Ayden was apparently very quiet and calm and when they got back, David noticed he felt a little warm.  He took his temperature and it was 99*F, low grade fever.  He also is having some tenderness at the injection sight again and was fussy whenever his leg was moved around.  When I got home, I got him ready for bed and he's been asleep in his crib for almost an hour now.  I am taking some supplements to help his little body process and detox the vaccines quickly as well as turmeric which is an anti-inflammatory.  We will also be giving him an infant pro-biotic in expressed milk everyday which will also help support his little body while it builds its new immunities.

David and I are watching a movie and having some grown up time while Ayden sleeps.  Hopefully a good side effect from these mean old vaccines will be a good night's sleep!

  1. Aww, I hope he is feeling better. My son is getting his 6 month vaccines next Wednesday. It always makes me so nervous. I would love to know what supplements you took to help him process the vaccines. So I could maybe ask our Dr. if it would be somethingthat would work for us.

I absolutely love your blog and enjoy your family vlog! Thanks for sharing.
