Between going to the grocery yesterday and having a house showing this morning I made it back home in time for lunch with nothing really left on my agenda. So how did we fill our day?
We went to the pet store during the showing and Ayden's face completely lit up when he saw every different kind of animal. It was like each and every one was the most amazing thing he had ever seen. Now I totally get why parents almost always give in when their child wants a new pet. It was so heart warming and cute.
When we got home we had lunch and then...played. I spent the day crawling around with Ayden, reading to him, going up and down the stairs, reading some more, dancing and clapping to music, snuggling and whatever else he wanted to do. It was so wonderful that I have now declared Fridays my "off" day where I put down my phone, close the computer, shove the To Do's aside and become super present and available to Ayden. I don't want it to sound like I'm not present on all of the other days but I just think it is important, especially now that he is becoming a toddler, that we really make it a point to set aside time where the world around us is out on pause. I soaked up every giggle and smile and enjoyed the low stress level of the day.
Ayden's listening ears are growing! He follows the "put it in" direction without fail and even left something alone when I asked him not to touch it. That one was pretty huge! He is babbling up a storm and currently seems to enjoy exploring /s/ sound combinations.
I got up and got ready while Ayden slept in today. |

I love reading about your Little Man! I wish I could make myself take one day a week & declare it a day off. I know my kids need it but it seems there is ALWAYS something that comes up that prevents it. Glad you all had such a great day.
ReplyDeleteI spent my Friday night at Church & frankly I can't think of anything else I would have rather been doing.
Have an awesome weekend!!!
