Happy July! [Goal Time]

I cannot believe it is July already!  This time last year we were having a terrible triple digit  heat wave and this year we've had rain almost everyday this week with temps comfortably in the mid 80s. Craziness.

Since we are mostly settled into our cottage I thought I could manage some new goals to work towards this month:

An ongoing daily goal!
Personal:
- Work on being more of a forward thinker. I would love to have cards in the mail and gifts made/purchased before I need them. I'd also like to be able to look ahead to plan fun stuff for special days (like free, local Independence Day fun).
- Go to bed a little earlier. Ayden is waking a little earlier since it is brighter in the cottage than in our windowless bedroom at my parents'. I like having the extra couple of hours in my day but need to get to bed a little earlier so I feel more rested.

Family:
- Go swimming!  Ayden is such a water baby, we know he will love swimming. We just need to make the effort to take him.
- Farmer's market!  The markets are in full swing now so it is time to add a stop there before my grocery run. We have a few days/markets to choose from.  The plan is to go and get some yummy produce (hopefully meat too) to supplement our own garden harvests, then come home and meal plan around our findings, then go back out to purchase remaining items as needed. Perhaps even run out the next day or David can always stop at a grocery on his way home from work. We need to support the folks we are trying to join in this journey of ours!

Household:
- Finish getting settled in the cottage. The upstairs (office and playroom) looks like storage at the moment. Our back yard shed could used some rearranging as well. We are working in a little bit everyday and slowly getting systems in place. We'll continue to do this and hopefully will get it all knocked out before August.
- Garage sale/donations. We had a small period of time where we only brought our essentials over to the cottage. Once we brought everything else, we realized just how much too much stuff can really clutter up a space and our lives. This one may have to be next month since we'll be purging as we get settled this month but we will be making piles and sorting during the process.

Another ongoing daily goal:
Spend more time staring at this little sweetie.
Okay, your turn!  What are you hoping to accomplish in the month of July?

  2. Oh boy. Time to update my goals. You always remind me. I don't even want to look back at my June goals to review my progress :(

Your list sounds like a lot of fun! We love the farmer's market!

    1. Yeah, I didn't even make goals for June and scrapped most of May's. Haha, life happens and we've gotta roll with the punches :)

  4. I'd really like to start on my herb garden. The second thing would be to get out to fly our kite more. Finally, Nancy and I need to continue to reach our goal of reading 500 books this year.

When we moved at the beginning of the year, we took a lot of our stuff to a local charity and dump. We had over 1,000 pounds of stuff that we just decided to throw away. It was a lot of stuff from my entertainment business that I had owned - stuff that people wouldn't want. Good luck with the garage sell and donations.

    1. How old is Nancy? I think it is so great that you have a set number goal of books to read! What a fun idea. Kit flying is fun too!! We've been enjoying mint from my mom's garden but haven't planted any others yet. Fresh herbs add so much to cooking. Good luck with it!

  5. Good morning! Nancy is 15 months old. She just loves us reading to her. When I am doing chores, she doesn't mind just sitting back with a good book. We've been logging our books on shelfari.com. It's a great site to show the books that you've read, want to read, or reading now. I think we might adjust our goal down, but we won't do so until towards the end of the year. As she gets older, we'll do a reward system as she reaches her own goals. My husband got a kite for Father's Day. It's been a bit tricky since it's a sport kite but so much fun for our family. I've always just bought my spices, but I thought it would be so much fun growing my own.
