How To: Cut Burlap {without the fraying!}

Burlap is all over Pinterest these days. From table runners and tree skirts to roses and bows, if you want to be in the "in crowd" you've gotta make it out of burlap. I have to admit, I have fallen hard into the burlap trap myself. I love how rustic it is, yet when paired with lace or some other feminine texture it offers the perfect balance.

As fun as this latest trendy fabric is, it can be frustrating to work with. Because of how it is woven together, if you just cut down the middle as you would with any other cloth it can unravel easily.  If you're not careful, you'll just end up with a pile of twine. There is a secret to cutting burlap, without the fraying, that will solve all of your crafter problems.

Locate a string or two that mark your desired width for your burlap.
Pull them all the way out.

Use the space created as your cut line.
Congratulations!  You just cut burlap without it unraveling all over your craft room!

Working with burlap has never been so simple!  Here's a sneak peak of my current burlap project:

Can't wait to share the finished product with you!
