Happy 6 Months, Logan!

Happy half birthday sweet Logan!  Oh I could stare at these photos all day...

Those bottom teeth are on their way!!
Read about Logan at 5 months here!

Logan has been with us for half of a year already!  He is still Mr. Mellow and enjoys everyone and everything around him.  He only cries if he is hurt (usually big bro induced though he has been known to bop himself in the face with toys) and is seriously the happiest and most content baby on Earth, though I realize that I am a bit biased...

Sitting up like such a big boy!
Mr. Logan still takes three naps a day.  He wakes up for the day between 6:30 and 7, takes a morning nap for about an hour at around 8:30, an afternoon nap ranging between 1 and 2 hours at around 12:30 and then a 45 minute cat nap at around 4:30.  He goes to bed for the evening at about 7pm, give or take a half hour or so and wakes every 3-4 hours to eat through the night.  He still sleeps in our bed which is still working very well for us.  We pretty much follow his cues for everything but he is definitely a constant in our lives and is very predictable unless he's in a Wonder Weeks stormy period.

Dislikes: Getting bopped in the face with anything, being touched with cold hands, being hungry/tired/dirty diapered, teething.

Likes: Mommy, Daddy, Ayden, grandparents, everyone else he meets, balls, paper, the bird on his exer-saucer, exploring things with his mouth, his toes, strings/wires, music/singing, being tickled, baths, having his diaper changed, kicking his legs, rolling around EVERYWHERE, crawling practice, watching big kids play, animals... The list could seriously go on and on.  This kid just loves life and everything in it!

Logan has really been enjoying the chicks.  He will sit and hold on the the edge of their brooder pool and will reach in and touch the downy feathers on the tops of their heads.  When we say dog he looks at Maverick. We are still waiting for his consonant babbling to begin and he focuses on our mouths really hard when we say, "Mamama, Dadada, or bababa"  We are thinking it will start very soon! Right now his most common sounds are squeals of delight, "Aaahhhh," "Wuh" and the occasional fussiness when he needs something.

Newborn Logan vs 6 Month Logan.
He's grown a little...

Ayden has big plans for his little brother.  When Logan gets bigger they are going to play and share toys and have a lot of fun together, according to Ayden.  He loves his little bro now but is REALLY eager for an active play mate.  Logan comes to life more and more everyday and our extroverted Ayden is really looking forward to the built in playmate idea.  I am so glad we got started on that for him when we did.  He would have probably been happiest as a twin, haha!

Now that Logan has hit the 6 month mark, is sitting up on his own and is pulling things to his mouth with great coordination, it is time to start his Baby Led Weaning journey!

We've been giving him breast milk cubes in mesh feeders, big peeled carrots, and tonight a big piece of celery.

He wasn't so sure about it at first...
Once we make it to the grocery this week we'll stock up on some avocado for him as his first actual ingestible food.  Up until now it's just been exploration, a chilled natural teether and exposure to flavors.

He almost ALWAYS pulls back as soon as my milk lets down.
Silly boy!
And, as not to leave out big brother, here is a pretty fun photo of our dare devil!

Best big bro award goes to this guy!
We are seriously in love with this little family we have made together.  We are truly blessed.  Happy half birthday, Logan!  You enrich all of our lives so very much.

  1. you are lucky beyond lucky. When my daughter was 6 mos and even today at 21 mos, she always went to bed really late and never really took good naps like your son does. 11 pm is my daughter's norm For bed.

  4. Oh my goodness, I have a daredevil too! The other day Robbie called me softly from his room and I said, yes? And he called me again and I asked if he needed help and he said help me, softly. I went in his room and he was STANDING on top of his Ikea kitchen! I don't want to scare him or endorse him doing it again but I didn't know whether to laugh or freak out!

  5. Oh my goodness! He is really cute. That video is just fabulous. Thank you very much for sharing this. Anyway, my son will turn 1 in the next month. I want to throw an outdoor party and would prefer medium sized party venue rentals as I will be inviting only a few guests. Can anyone help?
