We are falling so in love with this house.
Can't wait to make it a home.
Dinner was inspired by these beauties.
Shiitake mushrooms from the farmer's market.
Grilled them with onions and put them on top of rib eye steaks.
YUM!
Hope everyone had a great Sunday!

New Ride

The boys got a new ride this morning!

My friend knew I was on the market for a double jogging stroller so when she saw this one at a garage sale she texted me photos and offered to pick it up for me.  She even delivered it right away and I paid her back.  LOVE having my playgroup mommy friends for so many reasons...

We took a wait and see approach as far as strollers and baby gear go.  For the most part, we use our Baby Jogger City Mini for Ayden and the Ergo for Logan and that suits us just fine.  We also have the glider board just in case I need both kids in the stroller but that really isn't often.  It is getting hotter and more humid, however, and I've been taking a lot of walks to my parents' house or to the build site and Logan and I both get pretty hot.  And Summer has JUST begun! I thought a double jogger would be something we would really use.

Now that we have the double jogger, I plan to sell our single jogger and another double stroller that we've never used to make the money back.  Again with the selling what we don't use to pay for what we need along with two things out, and only one in. Normally I wold sell items first and literally use that money to purchase the new item.  This time I wanted to have the double stroller before selling the single one since I was making due and using it regularly.

Logan's face...  He cracks me up!

The brand is My Safari, which I had never heard of, and the best part is that it has all of the features that I love in a stroller.  Nice big basket underneath, both kids have trays with cup holders, the trays flip all the out to the sides so the kids can get in and out easily, the sun shades are separate and detached so I can pull it all the way forward if we are facing the sun, the seats individually recline almost all the way, the front wheel can lock in place or swivel, the control for locking the front wheel is up by the handle, it has a wrist strap so the stroller can't get away from me on a hill or something, the harness straps are VERY easy to adjust.  And just for fun, it has a headphone jack and each child has a little speaker in their sunshade.  My only "complaint," if I would even call it that, is that the light grey color gets dirty REALLY fast.  Overall this was a gem of a garage sale find and I'm so happy with it!  I see even more walks/jogs in our future.

Ayden enjoys having a stroller mate!
In other news, we discovered a mulberry tree on our property.  Always exciting to have something to forage!  I may try to make some honey sweetened mulberry jam.

Sweet Traditions

We picked a BUNCH of strawberries today!

Ayden LOVED having his own box to fill.

Admiring and learning about the blossoms.

Brother BFFs

Strawberries are one of Logan's favorite foods!
The stroller kept him busy while we picked.
Warm from the sun and DELICIOUS!!

There aren't many things that compare to the flavor of fresh strawberries.  Some of nature's finest candy in my opinion!!  Schools around here had their last day today.  I guess Summer is officially here and we couldn't be more excited about it.

5 Happy Things: Baby Wedgies

It seems as though I don't have very much to write about these days so I'll just focus on 5 happy things:

1) Baby wedgies! LOL

2) This view and these snuggles NEVER get old.
His long(ish) fuzzy hair is one of my favorite things right now.

3) Peas in a pod from our garden.
and seeing the boys eating them.

4) This toothy grin.  He's working on his first top tooth now.
and 5) for your listening pleasure:

Watching Big Kids

This little boy is always watching and taking notes.

Not too much to report today...  We ran some errands, took a huge box to the Good Will (always feels wonderful!) and taught some dance.  It's been pretty rainy here lately and there's more in the forecast.  We have strawberry picking plans later this week so we'll see if the rain holds off for us.  I've been daydreaming about that strawberry pie that I made last year and am looking forward to making on again!

Bitter Sweet

This boy is blowing our minds.  He is working so hard on free standing.  All day. Everyday.

How is he big enough for such things?!?
There's no story time for a couple of weeks while the library gears up for Summer reading festivities.  We still went to return/check out books and then we had a play date at the nearby park.

Logan has officially passed into voluntary snuggle territory and it sure is sweet!  He has always been cuddly but now he has stepped it up a notch.  He'll give us "hugs" by laying his head down on our shoulder for a few seconds while we are holding him and instead of always nursing to sleep, he'll get his fill then crawl up a little so his face is next to mine before nuzzling in and falling asleep.  And I thought he couldn't possibly capture my heart anymore than he already had.  He is just the sweetest thing.  He and Ayden have kicked their fun up a notch too.  They play "chase" and Logan LOVES crawling around on Ayden's floor bed with him.  They were hilarious together in our tent when we got it set up over the weekend.  It is really a pleasure to see them build their relationship and it's so fun that they actually get to PLAY now!

As bitter as it is to see my babies grow up, the people they grow into, and all of the voluntary affection that comes with that, sure are sweet.

Fast Paced Reality

Did you miss us??

We had a very sleepy and pleasant ride home and we made it safe and sound. We enjoyed our weekend so much!  Always fun to spend quality time with like-minded people. As if we did not realize it already, this trip reminded us of how fast paced our lives are at the moment.  As soon as we got home, we already had to hit the ground running back into our fast paced reality.   It is what it is at the moment and we really do feel like these short term sacrifices are going to pay off.  It is nice to get to take a weekend here and there to slow down and enjoy the simple things in life, though, and when we do get to we definitely don't take it for granted.

For anyone who is interested, I did write posts the past two nights even though I was not able to publish them.  They are up now if you want to read about our weekend!

Logan's First Camp Out

Ayden has always been a good camper and Logan seems to be following suit.  They both slept like rock stars!

Davis and I did not sleeps quite as well but being a little tired was a fine price to pay for spending time here.

We are enjoying every minute.

The Barking House

Another full day of barking at painters for Maverick. He is such a protector. Not sure what he'd actually do if we were truly in trouble but he sounds pretty menacing.  I am grateful to him for wanting to protect us and our home but when I am inside with it for HOURS, it gets old. I took the boys to my parents' house for lunch and then on a snooze cruise. One of my play group mom friends sends me a photo the garage sale adds each week so I hit up one that looked promising for some vintage items. I came away with a couple things and the kids both got in nice, long naps. Wins all around!

I may need to unplug for the weekend. We are going to be camping out on the off-grid farm of some friends of ours and I am not sure what my reception will be. If I can, I'll post but if the blog is quiet for a couple of days, you'll know why. David is supposed to be helping them do some exciting stuff so whenever I can post, I'm sure I'll have some fun to share! We are so looking forward to our 3 day weekend!

What are your plans for Memorial Day?

You Never Know

Ayden has taken up an interest in writing again.  He was interested in it for a little while, long enough to learn how to write his A anyway, and then his interests shifted.  I am a firm believer in letting kids direct their own learning in the early years so I shifted my teaching accordingly but now the pendulum has swung back.

"Look, mommy, S for Sarah!"

3rd time's the charm for N.

The painters were back today and Maverick was not used to them so he barked ALL day long.  The boys and I went for a nice long walk to my parents' house and to our farm where we harvested some lettuce and peas.

He was so excited to get to finally pick the peas that he hugged them.
SO good!  Haha.

Ayden had to miss out on his nap today due to the dog barking and such so by the end of the evening he was SO tired.  We went to my niece and nephew's preschool graduation and he fell asleep on the way home.  He stayed asleep while I got him ready for bed but before I carried him into the bedroom I sat down in the glider and snuggled him.  Logan was already in bed so it was just the two of us.

I soaked the moment in because now that he is such a big boy, and such a good sleeper, I never really know when I'll get to hold him while he sleeps.  Tonight was my lucky night.
