Emergency!

We had our first visit to the ER for Ayden this evening...

Luckily it wasn't a big emergency.  We were having a doula interview and Ayden was running in the driveway with David when he tripped and fell.  He hit his head and landed on a tiny rock just right and it ended up getting lodged into his little scalp.  We tried to get it out but couldn't so off to the ER we went.  He had a CT scan and everything and was so brave the whole time!  David went into the scan with him and said that he could tell he was scared but even so he laid still and cooperated.  The tech was very complementary and we were so proud of his bravery!

Finally the doctor numbed the spot (which was the worse part since it was like getting 2 shots in his head...) and then they were able to get the rock out.  Just like with Ayden's last vaccine, we prepped him every step of the way and when he got the numbing shots he just turned his little face into my chest and started crying.  He still let them do their work though and we left with just a little puncture wound.

They told us to keep it clean and dry and they prescribed an antibiotic for us to use if needed.  We are just so glad that his first ER visit was more of a minor emergency.

In house news, they poured our basement walls today!

The ball is really rolling now.  We have a BUSY day tomorrow with our bees coming and all. Can't wait!

  1. Oh poor baby. I got tears in my eyes when I saw that picture of his head. Our babies are our life and when they get hurt I think it affects us more then them often times. Boys are so active, girls can be too, but it's that age. I remember having lots of accidents and stitches as a kid. I was active but had fun. Little ayden will get better in know time. Hugs and get better kisses to him coming his way. Also, congrats on finding out you are having a boy. I honestly thought it was a girl!!

  2. Oh bless his heart. I'm so thankful it was a minor emergency but wish he didn't hurt himself at all. He sounds like such a brave little boy!

Yay for house progress. It must be so exciting to see it coming to life!
