Into The Wild

Our camping trip was a success!!  Yesterday's post should have been called "We're Going On A Spider Hunt" because that was what Ayden wanted to do the whole time!  Whenever he found one he would sing "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" at the top of his lungs.  Haha!
Ready for our 2hr hike to our camp site!
Ayden held on to this book the whole time.
He alternated between "reading" to us and serenading us with his echoing compilation of Itsy Bitsy Spider, Row Row Row Your Boat and The ABCs.  Passers by found it rather entertaining as well.

We finally made it, albeit with very tired backs, to our camp site.  David set up camp while Ayden and I collected sticks for kindling.

We took a break to admire the view from a nearby cliff:

We had some dinner (canned soup with an added can of chicken for extra protien).  We had the same thing for breakfast this morning.  Easy peasy.

Thank you, David, for this beautiful action shot!  Haha.
David used his hatchet to get us some larger fire logs.  It was hard work!

We had some family time by the fire.  When Ayden went to sleep, David and I cozied up and just talked for a few hours.  While Ayden's favorite part of this adventure was spider hunting, David and I enjoyed our time by the fire, as well as the amazing views.

Good times to cherish for ever and always!
We all stayed warm and slept pretty well.  We were up bright and early at 7:00, ready to do it all again to get back to our car.

Staying warm on a chilly morning!
Bye-bye campsite!
We really enjoyed spending a night in the wilderness.  It is a great reminder of how we are all a part of something that is so much bigger than ourselves and the lives we live day-to-day.  We hope to make it out at least one more time this Fall.
