Baby #2 Is A...

I made it through the day!  I helped my mom and sister with the 9:00 pm baby goat feeding and was in bed by 10 pm last night.  3:30 am came quickly but luckily I was in a light sleep cycle and was able to get up without too much misery.  If Ayden has wake ups it's usually around 5:30 or so and since I woke up before that I got some solid sleep.

We were at the airport by 6:00

Getting on the plane!
(My mom photo bombed!  haha)

Ayden was AMAZING this trip!
He ended up spiking a fever this afternoon so that's probably why, poor guy.

And now the moment we've been waiting for for months!  I made it in time for our ultrasound.  Our flight home was actually a little delayed and I ended up being 15 minutes late for the appointment but I called ahead to let them know.  They said they were slow and that it was no problem.  Baby was very active and changed positions a lot.  The problem is that every position wasn't great for snapping good pictures.  Here are some of the best we got:

An almost profile... (head is turned away a little)

The ever creepy frontal face shot.

A little foot.
Arms crossed like an X in front of the face the WHOLE time.
This actually made it tough for the tech to get the head measurements that she needed.
She finally got them at the very end and they were great.
And the news everyone has been waiting for:

It's a boy!
Ayden is going to be a big brother to a little brother and we are so excited!  Two little farm boys running around and I am going to be the only princess.  We have chosen the name Logan Michael.  Logan just because we like it and Michael because it is both mine and David's dad's middle names as well as David's brother's.  So I suppose it is a family name of sorts...

Mostly I am just so thrilled that everything looks healthy!  His heart rate was 155 bpm and he is estimated to weigh around 10 ounces right now.  He wiggled like crazy for the rest of the day which I LOVED and I can already feel a deeper bond growing with him.  When we told Ayden he was having a little brother he said, "No, a baby sister..." so we're going to have to work on that a bit!   I am so excited that Ayden will have a built in best friend and playmate before we know it.  Seeing my sister's boys playing together on their farm gave me a glimpse of what it will be like to have my little helpers playing together while I do farm and house chores.  All great stuff!!

Do you have two boys around two and a half years apart?  How is it??

  2. Congratulations!!! That is so exciting. You are so right about built-in best friends and playmates! My two little ones are a girl (3) and a boy (1), but it is super fun to watch them interact and play together.

  4. Congrats! I too have two boys, 17 and 12. I would say that (in hindsight) that this is too big of a gap. You will like that they are closer together. Especially when they get into the teen years!

  6. Yes! We've got two boys exactly 2 1/2 years apart. It's a good amount of time, I think. We potty trained the older one right after baby #2 was born, and it was fine...you know, changing baby diapers and cleaning up accidents...it all goes together. :) Baby brother is almost 2 and LOVES his big brother. Older brother hasn't quite figured out he's got a built in best friend, but they're getting there. Personally, I love being Queen of the castle and having all my boys running around being dudes together. Congratulations!

  10. My boys are a little under 2 1/2 years apart and I honestly believe it's te PERFECT age gap. For us at least! Everything has gone so well so far. Ryan is old enough to help out and while they can't do much together now, they'll be close once Nolan is a little older. :)
