Good Deal

Our most recent entertaining Aydenism is him saying, "Good deal!" in the same context when you might say, "okay!". I think he picked it up from my dad and it's pretty funny.

We went to a garden work party for some friends today and had a really good time. We have been getting a lot of help on our house and it was nice to give back for a change.  They fed us brunch before hand and we contributed this beauty to the meal:

Paleo chocolate zucchini bread for the WIN!
(leave it to the preggo gal to bring something chocolate for breakfast...)

It's always risky business to try out a recipe for the first time when you are sharing it with other people but everyone asked for seconds so I think it's safe to say it was a success.  This group of friends also eat a mostly primal/paleo diet so all of the other food there fit that bill too.  It was delicious.

After the meal and some great conversation we headed outside to get to work.  Ayden is at a great age for actually being able to contribute.  He collected eggs from their nest boxes:

He asked me to take this picture.

He helped me paint some trellises:

And he helped lay out cardboard and shovel soil, manure, worm castings and mulch for a new lasagna garden.

We left feeling really good after being in such great company and using our precious time helping friends.

The rest of the day was pretty typical.  Late lunch, nap (while David and his dad worked on the house), a trip to the pet store, dinner and a visit with David's parents.  It was definitely a Sunday well spent!  David heads back to work tomorrow and we get back into our regular weekly groove.

  1. He is such a big helper! My son says "I guess, if you say so" all the time now. It cracks me up!

  2. It's funny today is our first day back to the regular groove, but after 4 days of my husband being gone. So pretty much the opposite. I'm definitely going to try that recipe!
