Hibernation

I'm so behind where I want to be as far as Christmas in our house goes. Today's stay home day helped me out a lot though!

Jingle Bells sensory tub with bows, pom poms and pipe cleaner candy canes.

Ayden decided to throw in an Olaf as well.

We hung out in comfy clothes all day and it was glorious.

I did get my T25 workout and we went for a walk because the day was beautifully sunny.

Ayden insisted on packing his suitcase to prepare for our walk.
He said we were hibernating for Christmas and right here he was saying, "I need my socks."
I guess he wanted to make sure his feet stayed warm during his winter's sleep.

Someone keeps finding that thumb of his.
It's kind of adorable...
Self sooth away, little man!

The boys both took 2 hour(ish) naps!

Gummy grin and a milk dribble.
Doesn't get much cuter than that!

Ayden woke up sad and as much as he wanted to, he couldn't pull himself together.

I picked him up and said, "It's okay, Baby. I've gotcha" and he flung his arms around my neck, held me tight and snuggled his head into my neck. We sat there like that until he was ready to get on with his day. I loved every moment of it. It feels so good to know that hugging me can help him regulate himself. What mother doesn't want to be needed in such a way?!

After dinner, David went out to build and Ayden took a bath. I gave Logan some diaper free time next to the tub and he rolled from tummy to back twice!  He's getting the hang of it but hasn't quite perfected it yet. He also kicks and kicks and kicks his little legs like crazy when he's nakey.

Aside from the post nap cry, we did not have any extreme toddler moments today. It was a nice little break and very enjoyable. I am thinking tomorrow might be a stay home day too...

  1. Sometimes those stay at home days help so much! I love that sensory bin you made and that gummy smile is to die for :)

    1. If I gave my toddler a sensory tub, she would dump everything out on floor. She would not give it the time of day. I think boredom would hit her after 1 minute of it. Ayden reminds me of a pioneer boy. He can certainly play and entertain himself well without modern technology. Rare to find that in our day of age. My daughter has her iPad games and TV cartoons for her entertainment and that's what keeps her happy. You ought to let your boys watch some TV educational shows.

    2. Ayden does get some screen time but nothing beats some quality hands on learning!
